Clear Ammonium Nitrate from North Chennai Warehouse: Panel's Recommendation to Customs
A multi-disciplinary board entrusted with reviewing the 740-ton ammonium nitrate transfer gathering dust for more than four years in a distribution center off Chennai has suggested that the Customs Department "clear" the stock from the godown, said a report from the board.
The 740-ton transfer was seized in late 2015 from the imports of Karur-based Amman Chemicals after its application for a key permit was dismissed. The organization has been occupied with a fight in court to proceed with its business.
As indicated by the Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board report, it has been prescribed to the Commissioner of Customs to "make quick move to clear the put away ammonium nitrate from the said CFS [Container Freight Station] as the equivalent is as yet under the ownership of the traditions division".
A board comprising of ecological designers and senior cops had visited the Container Freight Station worked by organization Sattva in Tiruvottiyur toward the north of Chennai on Thursday.
